Winter HVAC Tips
I know we’re in October and experiencing a heat wave, yet it’s not too early to plan for winter and cooler weather. I was talking with the HVAC inspector I refer to and he let me know how busy this time of year can be. My takeaway from our conversation was that we need to have systems checked ahead of time, in other words before they fail! Here are some steps you can take proactively:
Inspect your HVAC system: Having an annual inspection to make sure your heating system is functioning properly is well worth the time and small cost involved. Don’t wait until winter.
Check for gaps: Make sure your windows and exterior doors are sealed with weather stripping.
Gutter cleaning: Once Fall is over and all those leaves have dropped, have your gutters cleaned so water drains easily. Clogged gutters lead to all sorts of issues, the main one being damage to your roof.
Water heater: When was your water heater last checked? Remember, draining it once a year prevents minerals accumulating.
The above are simple home maintenance items. If you need a referral to a trade, reach out to me, I’m happy to help!
