Beginning as a Mexican ranchero and then Anglified as wheat farms, Sunnyvale spent most of a century as orchard land. World War Two brought Moffett Air Force Base and industrialization, with a quick transition into high-tech businesses. Lockheed came in the fifties, Yahoo in the nineties, Nokia in the oughts; and Apple in the teens. And let’s not forget LinkedIn and Google and the enormous property trade between these two giant tech companies! This is definitely engineer country. They really should call it, Chipvale.
As its name implies, Sunnyvale partakes of the best of the best, with summers outside the fog line yet not so far inland as to roast like parts of San Jose.
Sunnyvale has a really well organized City Hall making it a pleasure to deal with them; if memory serves me right Larry Stone (present Santa Clara County Tax Assessor) had something to do with changes in the City that have made it so well run.
