Most of my clients who are buying their first home in Silicon Valley are tech professionals who are moving here to be closer to their work. Many have recently been hired by one of the Valley’s tech companies, or believe that moving will improve their job options; they often don’t understand the higher costs of living here. It’s important to familiarize yourself with housing prices as they can easily offset a higher salary or signing bonus, and should be factored into your move. Many clients rent initially, then purchase a home when they are more familiar with the area.
