Los Gatos (Spanish for “the cats,” referring to the cougars once indigenous there) is located near San Jose and at the base of the Santa Cruz mountains; with such a location you have housing on the flats and in the hills. Whether you choose a ranch-style house, or an older Victorian close to downtown, or an upscale mansion in the foothills, whatever your preference, you can find it in Los Gatos—and you can expect it to be pricey!
Los Gatos has a charming downtown, full of character with many specialty boutiques and lots and lots of yummy eateries! Like neighboring Saratoga, Los Gatos downtown is beautiful and would make a perfect picture postcard. In addition to its downtown, there is also the Old Town Shopping Center, which should not be missed.
